Stanislav (Stas) Antons was taken suddenly from his family on July 2. Born in the Soviet Union, Stas immigrated to the United States in 1993. Stas lived in Seekonk and Rehoboth, MA for many years before recently moving to Barrington RI. He completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Management Information Systems at the University of Rhode Island, graduating magna cum laude in 1997. After graduation, Stas began a long career in Information Technology for financial firms in the Boston area, including John Hancock Funds, Fidelity Investments, Merrill Lynch and TIAA-CREF. Stas was also an entrepreneur at heart having started and operated several small companies and ventures through the years.
Stas was an avid triathlete and runner, constantly seeking to reach new goals and undertake new adventures. He competed in many local and international events of varying distances. Recently, he was training for his third Iron-distance triathlon to be held in mid-August in Montreal, Canada. He previously had completed two such races in Wales, UK in 2011, and Zurich, Switzerland in 2013. He was a member of the Fuel Belt race team and greatly enjoyed the challenges and comradery of the diverse team.
Stas was an eternal student of the world always engaged in learning. He enjoyed all things related to boats, cars, books, and healthy living, as well as butter. He was a gentle, caring and humble man always willing to move mountains for the betterment of his family and those about whom he cared. Stas was a wonderful and devoted husband, father, son, brother and friend.
He leaves behind his wife of more than 20 years, Karen (McKendry) Antons; daughter, Kayli; mother, Ella Armitage of Seekonk, MA, his parents, brothers and sisters by marriage: David A. and Trudy McKendry of Narragansett, RI; David D. and Eva McKendry of Rowley, MA, Steven & Melissa McKendry of Virginia Beach, VA; Lori (McKendry) and Mark Teaken of Fayetteville, NY, as well as 8 nieces and nephews. Stas will also be missed by an extensive group of friends, colleagues and teammates whose lives were enriched through Stas’ energy and infinite kindness.
A service to celebrate Stas’ life and the joy he spread to so many will be held at the Chapel by the Sea within Colt State Park in Bristol, RI at 1:00 PM on Monday, July 27, 2015. The family is establishing an entrepreneur fund in Stas’ memory and encourages donations in his name in lieu of flowers.
