Richard “Bruce” Amand, age 92, of Bristol, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully at home on October 24, 2025.
Born in Dayton, Ohio, Bruce graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 1956 before entering U.S. Air Force pilot training in Little Rock, Arkansas. He served as adjutant in a strategic bomber wing, then began a long career in marketing communications—first with General Electric in Cincinnati and later with advertising agencies in Cincinnati, Hartford, and Providence—before founding his own firm.
In 1997, Bruce and his late wife, Elesa Todd Amand, moved from Barrington to North Farm in Bristol, where they were active grandparents, tennis players, and longtime TAPIN volunteers. For 15 years, Bruce served as Editor in Chief of The Masthead, North Farm’s community newsletter.
He was the father of Lynne Amand Turner (Benjamin) of Barrington, Kenneth Todd Amand of Bristol, and the late Richard John Amand of Hamburg, Germany. He is also survived by six grandchildren: Sumner Turner, Elesa Turner Tungate, Jeremy Amand, Charlie Amand, Lucy Amand, and Lionel Amand.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Hope Health Hospice & Palliative Care, Providence (hopehealthco.org) or TAPIN (Touch A Person In Need), Barrington (tapinri.org).
A private celebration of Bruce’s life will be held at a later date
