Rev.Shirley M. Andrews, 87, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2024, to join her dearly beloved husband Ronald Andrews, and second-born daughter Elizabeth MacMillian. She was born in Fall River, MA, and the daughter of the late Mary E. Ouellette, Mother, and Thomas Scholes, Father. Shirley Andrews is survived by her daughter Judith Terenzi, 5 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. Shirley was driven by her passion for the church and for helping people; she is distinguished with her many achievements.
In 1973 she was awarded Outstanding Elementary Teacher of America, in Danville, Virginia. Starting in 1990 and throughout her life she was a Spiritual Director and served as a Retreat Leader. She also was lead at the international "De Bron Christian Conference Center" in the Netherlands
Shirley's notable career path started at The General Theological Seminary in New York, New York. In 1990 she was ordained as a Deacon by the General Convention of the Episcopal Church, in Davenport Iowa. In 1991 she was ordained as a Priest by the St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, in State College, Pennsylvania. Also in 1991, she served as an Associate Rector for St. John's Episcopal Church, in Barrington R.I.. Starting in 2001 Shirley served as Rector for the Church of the Ascension and retired in July of 2005.
On Friday, November 8th, 2024 viewing will be held between 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Smith-Mason Funeral Home located at 398 Willett Ave., Riverside R.I., with memorial services to follow at St. John's Episcopal Church 191 County Rd., Barrington R.I. starting at 11 a.m. With procession to follow to the Pocasset Hill Cemetery 44 Grinnell Ave., Tiverton, R.I.
