With deep love and profound sadness, the family of Norman Maclure announces his passing on November 7, 2025, after a long and full life rich with purpose, curiosity, and compassion.
Born in Woonsocket, RI and raised in Cranston, Norman made his home in Barrington for the past 47 years, where he built a life centered around family, community, and creativity.
Norman leaves behind his devoted wife, Maryanne, and his three daughters—Suzanne, Christine, and Diane—who will forever cherish his guidance, humor, and unwavering love. He is also survived by five grandchildren, each of whom was a source of great pride and joy to him.
Norman’s life was marked by service, dedication, and passion. He proudly served in the United States Navy, an experience that shaped his character and commitment. Following his service, Norman built a long and meaningful career with the State of Rhode Island, where his work ethic, sharp mind, and steady presence left a lasting impact on those who knew and worked with him.
Norman had a remarkable set of hobbies that reflected his creativity and curiosity. He was an artist, a patient cultivator of bonsai trees, and an avid coin collector, always eager to share his knowledge with anyone who showed interest. His diverse talents and varied passions colored his days and inspired others to explore their own.
Above all, Norman was known for his kindness and reliability. He was the person you called when you needed help—whether it was a bowl of homemade chicken soup, a scratch ticket to brighten your day, or heartfelt advice. His presence was a comfort, his humor a gift, and his devotion to family his greatest legacy.
Norman touched many lives and will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him. His memory will live on in the stories shared, the lessons learned, and the love that continues to bind his family together.
Visitation will be on Wednesday November 19, 2025 at the Smith-Mason Funeral Home 398 Willett Ave Riverside, RI 02915 from 9: 00 AM - 10:00 AM followed by burial in St. Jean the Baptist Cemetery 310 Wrentham Road, Bellingham, MA 02019 at 11:15 AM.
