MAGEE, Mary Louise “Mary Lou" of Warren and Sarasota, FL, formerly of Barrington died suddenly. She was the beloved wife of John R. Magee. She was born in Byrn Mawr, PA, daughter of the late John Franklin and Mary (Welles) Teegardin.
Besides her husband, she leaves two daughters; Shawn E. Magee of Barrington and Susan Schofield and her husband, Jeffrey of Duxbury, MA; four sons, John R. Magee, Jr. and his wife Kelly of Chester, CT; Kevin F. Magee and his wife, Geralyn Leone, MD of Marstons Mills, Cape Cod; Michael J. Magee of Warren; and Matthew J. Teegardin of Rochester, NY; two sisters, Elizabeth Williams of Rochester, NY; and Barbara Card of Seven Lakes, NC, and 12 Grandchildren: Austin, Kathryn “Kate,” Patrick, Cole, Cameron, Grant, Corinne, Dylan, Andrew, Madelyn, Grace, and Matthew.
Mary Lou was a loving and patient wife, mother and grandmother who accumulated a lifetime of memories sailing, traveling cross country on their motor coach, gathering with the many friends she has collected near and far and abroad. Cruising with her family from Maine to the Bahamas, Mary Lou was an avid, seaworthy sailor and First Mate. As the quiet gentle force of the family, she was able to cook and entertain for many on a dime; she was an exceptional chef. She loved to work with her hands and spent a lifetime creating cherished keepsakes for those she loved.
She was a graduate of LaSalle Junior College where she met the love of her life. Traveling where jobs took them, they settled in Rhode Island to raise their six children. Mary Lou volunteered for the Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, PTO, and countless other activities. She was the first female flag officer to join the Board of Directors of the Barrington Yacht Club. She participated with her husband, who was a member of the New York Yacht Club, Foretravel Family Motor Coach Association, as well as other organizations.
Mondays were always treasured, as she gathered faithfully to play bridge, rarely to be missed. Her dear lifelong friends from Barrington Yacht Club, motor coaching and Sarasota filled her life with joy and happiness. She will be dearly missed by all.
