Her brother John, known as Jack, who shared her love of travel, moved to California in the 1964 but they remained incredibly close, vacationing together over the years in the Cayman Islands and creating special memories. Her brother Patrick and his wife Carole live in Somerset and they have spent holidays and special moments together also creating special memories. Mary was very blessed to have her brothers and their families in her life.
Mary wed Thomas R. Levasseur on June 2, 1956 in Fall River, MA and they had 3 children; Linda Levasseur, Leslie Levasseur (pre-deceased) and Thomas Levasseur. Mary graduated high school and went on to work for the phone company. While at the phone company she met Thomas, fell in love and they began their life together. They eventually moved to Seekonk where they raised their family. Mary went on to have a long career in real estate, working for T.R. Little for the majority of her career and ending her real estate career with the company Aubin Corp. She enjoyed great success as a Realtor. Mary was known for her tenacious and customer service-oriented approach to ensuring her clients were well cared for. She was a great listener and that showed in how she always managed to find the dream home her customers were looking for. She was sought after by many repeat clients to represent them when they were ready to sell their home and move on to their next one. She was an active agent until the age of 81.
One of Mrs. Levasseur’s greatest passions was singing. She started at the young age of 12 and she found joy and happiness sharing her voice. She sang for weddings, funerals, and local shows. She continued singing, which led her to the chorus, RI Sound, now Harmony Heritage, a chapter of Harmony Inc.,. She was a member for over thirty years. Her chorus friends were an incredible support to her since Tom passed and they were pillars of strength for her. She served as the contact chairperson for many years for her chapter chorus, Harmony Heritage. She was in many side quartets, always looking to find a place for the chorus’s voice to be heard. Her last two gigs were Six in the City and Silver Bells. She particularly enjoyed performing with them at Blithewold Mansion during the holiday season.
Mary shared her music interests with her daughter. They attended Harmony, Inc contests together, musicals and concerts, sometimes leading to backstage singing with the performers. They shared a love of music and through their years together their tastes combined.
Another one of Mary’s greatest past times was spending time at Saquish Beach with Tom and Mary and Hank Bennett and their families. Mrs. Levasseur loved to go quahogging, clamming and spent many fun times with her family and friends at the Bennett’s cottage. She loved the sand and the sun, and the peace of the ocean. She was an avid swimmer and enjoyed getting her swim time in the back beach where the water was calm and she could get her laps in. Her love of the beach extended to her vacations in Grand Cayman with her family. Mary and Tom, along with their son Tom and his wife Michelle and their children, Brittany, Joshua and Jackson owned a timeshare there and they spent many school vacations enjoying fun in the sun together. They also met many new friends there and enjoyed going back year after year to relax and enjoy the quiet life on the island. She particularly loved the challenge of packing food to supplant the trip.
Mary enjoyed reading and had a book or two going at any given time. She enjoyed a wide variety of authors, ranging from mystery to romance novels. She was known for her unfinished knitting projects but managed to finish some very special sweaters for her grandchildren, including Boston Bruins sweaters. Mary’s son Tom played hockey through high school and she became a die hard Boston Bruins fan all through her adult life. After Mary’s husband Tom passed, Mary and her son Tom would spend many nights texting each other about the games as they shared a love of hockey together.
Mrs. Levasseur is survived by her daughter Linda of Seekonk, MA, her son Thomas and his wife Michelle (Stevens) Levasseur of Pepperell, MA, and her grandchildren, Brittany, Joshua, Jackson and several nieces and nephews.
