Mary Kutcher Obituary

Mary Kutcher, 98, passed away surrounded by family on Monday, July 19, at Rhode Island Veterans Home in Bristol.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Daniel J. Kutcher.

Born in Providence, R.I. in 1923, she was the daughter of Francis and Hilda McGough. She attended Providence public schools and was a 1945 graduate of Rhode Island Hospital School for Nurses. She served her country as a nurse in the waning years of World War II, and served her community as an R.N., retiring from Rhode Island Hospital in 1985.

A longtime resident of Barrington, R.I., in retirement, Mary was active in programs provided by Barrington Senior Center, where she created numerous watercolor works and participated in its social activities. She was a member of Barrington Congregational Church, where she sang in its choir and contributed as a volunteer. Mary enjoyed traveling, especially to visit family in Florida and Texas. She also had the opportunity to participate in Honor Flight in 2005 to experience Washington, D.C. memorials with her fellow veterans. She lived independently and cherished her ability to drive into her 90s.

She is survived by her four children: Jan Neff (Dan), Dan Kutcher (Rachel), Melodee Stump (Ray), Kathy Grey (Nick); six grandchildren: Joshua Ezekiel, David Kutcher (Robin), Tiffany Shaffer (Dusty), Timothy Stump, Aiden and Maggie Grey; and two great  grandchildren, Rowan and Fynn Schaffer.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 28th, at 3:00 at Living Faith Christian Church, 11 Clifford Street, Warwick, R.I., with a barbecue following on site.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be mailed to Rhode Island Veterans Home, 480 Metacom Avenue, Bristol, RI, 02809
