Mary L. (Swann) Anderson

November 7, 1929 ~ February 12, 2016 (age 86) 86 Years Old

Mary Louise Anderson, (86), formerly of Barrington, RI, passed away Friday, February 12, 2016, peacefully at her home at Briarcliffe Cottages, Johnston, RI after a long struggle with Parkinson’s disease and a recent hip fracture. Mary was happily married to Irving (Andy) Anderson for 62 years prior to his passing in 2014. They met at Colorado University and married in 1951. Mary was daughter of Henry and Rosamond (Lillie) Swann of Dedham, MA.
Mary is survived by her twin sister Barbara (Barby) Mouffe. Her older sister, Elizabeth (Betsy) Crowder, of California and younger sister, Ellen Leupold, of Colorado have passed on.
She leaves her son, John Anderson, and two daughters, Emelie Archibald, and Louise Anderson. Mary had 5 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
She was a piano teacher for a number of years. Mary was part of the “Daughter’s of the American Revolution Society” (DAR), Mayflower Historical Society, Women’s Club, St. John’s “Red Bricker’s” and Encore Shop, and piano player for St. John’s children’s services, Barrington Family Association, Barrington Yacht Club Social Committee, and a longtime member and past president of the Barrington Garden Club.
A Memorial Service will be held for Mary Anderson at 11:00 AM in St. John’s Episcopal Church, Barrington on Thursday, February 18, 2016.
