Manuel V. (Manny) Portella Jr. of East Providence, R.I. passed peacefully on October 18th, 2023. He was the beloved husband of Margaret A. Portella for over 60 years. Manny was born December 11, 1928 in Norwood, Mass to Antoinette (Rodrigues) Portella & Manuel V. Portella Sr. He was a lifelong resident of East Providence, R.I.

He was a member of the American Legion, 143rd Air Force, Air lift unit and a United States Marine serving as a Merchant Marine in World War II, and a US Marine in the Korean War.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret, his 6 children, Michael, Mitchell, Carlotta, Ricky, Michael, Rhonda & Kim. Three children pre deceased by Randy, Ronnie and Cheryl. 13 grandchildren, and over 20 great-grandchildren

Visitation will be on Tuesday October 24, 2023 in the Smith-Mason Funeral Home, 398 Willett Ave Riverside, RI 02915 from 8:00 AM – 10 AM. Burial will follow with Military Honors in RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery 301 S. County Trail Exeter, RI 02822
