Lazzaro, John T. 73, of Barrington died peacefully at his home with his loving family surrounding him. He was the beloved husband of Cathy R. Lazzaro. Born in Pawtucket, he was the son of the late John and Alice (Lavin) Lazzaro. John was a member of the Barrington Police Department for 39years retiring as Chief of the Department. John was a member of the team that built the new Public Safety Complex. He served as a member of the Barrington Town Council for 8 years. He was the PER of the Bristol County Order of Elks, a member of the Barrington FOP and FOPA and a member of the RI Police Chief’s Association. Besides his wife, John leaves two sons, John and Thomas Lazzaro, a daughter Jaime Lazzaro of Barrington, a sister Karen Gallagher of Barrington and 6 grandchildren. The funeral will be held on Tuesday at 8:45 AM from the Smith-Mason Funeral Home 398 Willett Avenue Riverside with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Luke’s Church 108 Washington Road at 10 AM. Calling hours are Monday 4 to 7 PM.
