Joan E Tanzi

Joan E. Tanzi, 68, of Riverside, passed away peacefully in her home on Saturday, June 17, 2023. She was an East Providence resident her entire life. Joan was the daughter of Gloria Garvin and the late Frederick Garvin. Besides her mother, she is survived by her husband of 49 years Joseph C. Tanzi Sr. She also leaves three children: Nicole and her husband Jack Perry of Riverside, Joseph Jr. and his wife Michelle Tanzi of Riverside, Cindy-Lee and her husband Kenny Correia of East Providence, along with six grandchildren: Joseph, Sierra, Dylan, Caterina, Nathan, Jacob, and one great grandson, Ethan. Joan was the sister of the late James Garvin and survived by his wife Diane Garvin, Robert Garvin and his wife Shirley of Cranston, Steven Garvin and his wife Teresa of Florida, and Debra Garvin of Riverside. 

Joan was a dedicated employee of Citizens Bank and primary caretaker of her mother for many years. She enjoyed traveling, especially going on cruises, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She will be missed dearly by her friends and family. 

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 from 4:00 pm-8:00 pm at Smith-Mason Funeral Home, 398 Willett Ave, Riverside, RI. A funeral service will be held at Smith-Mason on Thursday, June 22, 2023 at 10:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Groden Center, Inc. at 610 Manton Ave in Providence, RI 02909.
