Jeanne L. (Soares) Brockway

          Jeanne Louise (Soares) Brockway 66, passed away peacefully on December 29th, 2025.  Youngest daughter of the late John and Mary (Cogswell) Soares.

          Jeanne was born and raised in Newport RI and resided in Barrington, RI for the last 40 years. Jeanne was a 1977 Graduate of Rogers High School, earned her Associate Degree of Nursing in 1981, she continued her education receiving a Bachelors from Salve Regina University and a master’s degree from the University of Phoenix.  She was a nurse in and around Newport and the East Bay for 40+ years.

            Jeanne met and married the love of her life Dean. They travelled the world together for 44 years sharing a bond of true love and friendship. You rarely found one without the other and often they were together on their boat.  Jeanne loved the fiber arts, there wasn’t a sweater she couldn’t knit, a quilt she couldn’t sew or a blanket she couldn’t crochet. Many times, you could find her on her porch knitting during nice weather entertaining neighbors as she worked on a project.

             She is survived by husband Dean Brockway, daughter Emily, sons Patrick (Danielle) and Andrew (Amanda) Brockway. Grandchildren, Lilly, Luca, Lincoln, Logan, and Nora. Siblings David Soares of Nevada, Maryanne (Doug) Way of Florida, Jay (Colleen) Soares of Newport as well as many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her brothers John Soares Jr., Micheal Soares, and Louis Soares. In leu of flowers please donate to Visiting Nurses Home and Hospice, Middletown RI.

Church at 10am,  108 Washington Rd., Barrington RI. Burial will be private
