Jean F. (Leddy) Popolillo

Jean Francis (Leddy) Popolillo 84,of Barrington, RI passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on October 24, 2022. She was the daughter of the late Francis and Elizabeth (Chase) Leddy of Providence. 

Jean was the beloved wife of 51 years to Robert (Bob) Popolillo before his passing in 2010. She is also preceded by their daughter Doreen (Dori) Loignon of Barrington RI and her brother Gerald Leddy of East Providence RI.

Jean leaves behind two loving sons. Robert Popolillo of Barrington RI and Michael Popolillo and his wife Debra of Riverside RI. She leaves behind four cherished grandchildren. Grandsons Michael Loignon and wife Katie of Situate RI, Daniel Loignon of Warwick RI, Michael Popolillo of Riverside RI, Granddaughter Kelcie Popolillo and her fiance Katie Bockes of East Providence RI. She also leaves her brother Frank Leddy and wife Anne of Smithfield RI, son-in-law James Loignon of Cranston RI, sister-in-law Judy Leddy of Fall River MA and several beloved nieces and nephews. 

Jean followed her mothers footsteps and was a devoted employee of New England Telephone, pausing only for a few years to raise her children, until her retirement.  Jean had a quick wit and distaste for anything green, the granddogs knew to sit under her chair to receive the vegetables from her plate. She was an avid sports fan of the Red Sox and Steelers until she was rightfully brainwashed by her family to root for the Patriots, although she would still proudly wave her Terrible Towel. She never missed a sports game or music concert for her grandchildren. Nana’s taxi could be found all around Barrington and East Providence helping her grandchildren be on time for their events. She was known for her love of reading romance novels, lighthouses, and boating on Narragansett Bay. Her favorite memories were those she shared with family and friends aboard the Dori-Jean in Potters Cove. All that knew Jean loved her. She will be greatly missed by all those whose lives she touched. 

Go in peace Jean. Bob and Dori are waiting for you and Gerry has a new joke to tell. 

Visiting hour will be on Tuesday November 1, 2022 in the Smith-Mason Funeral Home 398 Willett Ave Riverside, RI 02915. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM on Wednesday November 2, 2022 in St. Luke's Church 108 Washington Road Barrington, RI 02806.
