Born on June 12, 1934, and raised in Clarion and Oil City, Pennsylvania, Janet lived a life centered on family, faith, service, and friendship. She was predeceased by her husband of more than 56 years, Donald Dreier, her mother, Twila Rea Fleming Maxwell, her daughter-in-law, Virginia (Ginger) Dreier, and her granddaughter, Megan Dreier.
Janet graduated from Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, in 1956 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. She was also involved in Intervarsity Christian Fellowship and contributed to the Media and Literacy program at the student-run radio station WVBU.
After graduation, Janet moved to New York City and worked as a flight attendant for United Airlines, where she met her future husband, Don. Together they built a home in Marshfield Hills, Massachusetts, where they lived for seven years before settling in Barrington, Rhode Island, in 1966 to raise their family.
Janet enjoyed travelling, having visited countries around the world. She spent many winters with her family and friends in New London, NH, skiing at King Ridge. She and Don spent many winters in Vero Beach, FL, where she played golf and enjoy her time with friends.
A devoted member of St. John’s Episcopal Church, Janet was always active in church and community life. In 1983, she co-founded Tap-In (Touch A Person In Need), with the vision of improving and enhancing the lives of those less fortunate by offering resources to combat food insecurity and economic challenges. Janet remained a dedicated volunteer with Tap-In throughout her life.
She was also a long-time member of Rhode Island Country Club, where she enjoyed the lifelong friendships she built, and countless rounds of golf. An avid golfer, Janet especially loved her time on the links with Don and her friends.
