James D Patterson Jr.

James D Patterson Jr., 82, of Riverside, R.I., passed peacefully at home on Sunday, March 16th 2025.

After serving 4 years in the US Coast Guard, he was an active member of the sheet metal workers union until he made a career out of his passion for fishing. After retiring from being a commercial fisherman, he spent his days spending quality time with his loving wife, Sue, and enjoyed sharing a special bond with his great grandson, Brayden. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, often taking annual winter trips to Arizona and Florida.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Susan M Patterson (Gabarra). He was the son of the late James and Grace Patterson of Barrington and brother to the late Dexter E Patterson of Riverside. Besides his wife, he leaves behind a daughter, Wendy Cook and her husband Peter Cook of Riverside, and two sons, Kevin Patterson and Brian Patterson of Riverside. He had 5 grand daughters, Leah, Krystal, Sara, Nicole, and Rebecca, and a grandson, Max, as well as 8 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
