Henry A. Voss JR.

Henry A. Voss JR. Passed away on June 2, 2021 peacefully at home.  He was the beloved husband of Constance (O’Neil) Voss for 55 wonderful years.  Born in Providence, Henry was the son of the late Sylvia (Thoresen) and Henry Voss.  He worked for over 40 years in the investment business as Vice President and Branch Manager for Paine Webber and Prudential Securities.  Henry was a graduate of the Providence Country Day School and the University of Maine-Orono.  He served as a trustee of PCD and served on the national alumni board of the University of Maine.  Henry was Board President of the Barrington YMCA and Board Chairman of the Greater Providence YMCA. 

Henry was a wonderful husband and father who always put his family first. Boating commanded much of his life and he shared this passion with Connie and their three daughters, making great memories on the water throughout the years. Henry was also an avid angler and bird hunter.  He was a founding member of the East Bay Anglers and a member of Nooseneck Hill Club at Addieville East.   As a member of the Barrington Yacht Club, his various boats occupied a slip for over 35 years.  In the early 2000's Henry and Connie traveled many miles on their 42’ Grand Banks ‘Decoy’ including the Great Loop, the Bahamas, Maine, Canada, and local waters down to Florida.  Henry also loved to ski and play tennis with a group of cherished friends. Henry was extremely proud of his seven grandchildren and enjoyed boating and skiing with them, as well as cheering them on at their various sporting events.

Besides his wife Connie, Henry is survived by his three daughters.  Karen Simone (James), Stephanie Grove (Theodore) and Leah Valentine (Steven).  Henry has seven beloved grandchildren - Jackson, Nicholas and Andrew Simone, Lauren and Heidi Grove, and Owen and Ryan Valentine.  Henry is also survived by his brother Peter Voss (Pamela), and several nieces and nephews.  Henry was predeceased by his sister Barbara Parillo.

The funeral services will be held in the Smith-Mason Funeral Home, 398 Willett Ave. Riverside 02915 on Wednesday June 9th, 2021 at 10A.M. with burial to follow in Forrest Chapel cemetery. Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 4 to 6P.M. Donations in lieu of flowers may be sent to Hope Health Hospice, 1085 North Main St., Providence, RI 02904.
