George Bolton, a longtime resident of Barrington, R.I. passed away on Friday December 2, 2022 at the age of 95. He was the son of the late Arthur D. Bolton and Ruth B. Bolton.
George graduated from Peck school in Barrington in 1945. He enlisted at the age of 17 to serve our country in the Navy during both WWII and the Korean War.
After his military service he graduated from the University of Rhode Island and went on to pursue a career in insurance, eventually starting his own Allstate office in Riverside R.I.
He was a member of the Masons Washington Lodge #3 in Warren R.I., and received recognition for over 65 years of service.
George was kind and caring. He was a volunteer for his community and the White Church in Barrington. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a “gift for gab”. He was a member of the Screen Actors Guild, loved to watch Turner Classic movies and was in several films.
George is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Rose Marie as well as his son, granddaughter and great granddaughter, his brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, and many cousins.
Calling hours are Friday, December 9, 2022 from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM in Smith-Mason Funeral Home, 398 Willett Ave. Riverside, RI 02915.
Burial will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2022 in Princess Hill Cemetery, 283 County Road, Barrington, R.I. 02806 at 10: 00 AM.
Following the Burial, a Funeral Service will be held at Barrington Congregational Church, 461 County Road at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers contributions to the Barrington Congregational Church would greatly appreciated or a Children’s Charity of your choice in George’s memory.
