Ernest “Skip” Trahan Jr., age 77, of Bluffton, South Carolina died January 27th after falling suddenly ill in late November.
Skip was born in 1945 to Ernest and Anne (Clark) Trahan and was raised in Barrington, Rhode Island. A graduate of Barrington High School, he received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Rhode Island College and was a teacher at Barrington Middle School the entirety of his career.
He was an avid sailor and angler for many years and in retirement enjoyed traveling the world with the love of his life, and wife of more than 50 years, Patty. Skip was also an accomplished carpenter and woodworker; family and friends are blessed to have handcrafted furniture in their homes to remember him by.
He leaves behind a loving family, including his wife Patricia (Simmons) Trahan and four children, Kimberlee Hayes, Rebecca Trahan, Jenifer Stromfors, and Ernest Trahan III. He also leaves eight grandchildren, Patricia Hayes, Sarah Hayes, Edward Hayes, Zachary Stromfors, Ernest Trahan IV, Jake Stromfors, Ella Stromfors, and Ethan Hayes as well as a brother, Richard Trahan. He is predeceased by his parents and brother, Jeffrey Trahan.
A wake will be held February 17, 2023, from 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM in the Smith Mason Funeral Home 398 Willett Ave Riverside, Rhode Island 02915. A Memorial Mass will be held on February 18, 2023 at 11:00 AM in St. Brendan’s Church 60 Turner Ave Riverside, Rhode Island 02915.
