Dorman "Butch" Searle

September 8, 1942 ~ May 30, 2016 (age 73) 73 Years Old
Our beloved mentor and Dad died suddenly May 30, 2016 on Memorial Day. He is now reunited with his beloved wife, Lynne Crowninshield Searle of 48 years, who passed in 2012. He was the son of the late Dorman “Dolly” and Myrtle (Crapo) Searle of Riverside, RI. “Butch” born, Dorman Winslow Searle, was born on September 8, 1942. He proudly served his country in the Army. Upon discharge, he married Lynne, on August 20, 1966. Butch worked as a “Tin Knocker” until he changed careers and became a Field Service Engineer for Union Carbide. Never one to sit still, remaining retired was not an option, so he went to work for one of his former clients. Butch loved boating and for years the sea was his second home as he worked diligently to restore a 1960 Owens.. He instilled his love of the sea in all his children. Because of that passion his oldest son pursued a career on the ocean. He could fix anything. There was no challenge he couldn’t accept. He remodeled their home in East Providence and later with his sons built their beautiful log cabin in Rehoboth, MA. He was a member of the Rehoboth Lions Club as well as the St. Andrews Masonic Lodge, Riverside, RI. He is survived by his daughter, Tammy, her husband Gary Davis of Jericho, Vermont. Their children; Chelsea (Davis), her husband Adam Brittain of Biddeford, Maine, their children, (Lilah and Evie), Clarissa Davis, Cedric Davis, Christiana Davis and Eleanor Davis all of Jericho, Vermont. His two sons; Todd his wife Kelly (Pollard) Searle their children Tristan and Riley, Trevor his wife Karen (Tomany) Searle and their son, Aiden both of Rehoboth, MA. He was predeceased by his grandson Elijah Todd Davis in 2013. Our Dad was an amazing Husband, Father and Grandfather/ Boppa. He will be sorely missed.
