Dolores (DeDee) Elaine (Simonson/Roehr) Sweeney

Dolores (DeDee) Elaine Sweeney [formerly Simonson/Roehr] passed away on Thursday 8/15/2024 at the age of 86. She is survived by her husband of 63 years Thomas E Sweeney Jr, her daughter Donna Personeus & son-in-law Neal Personeus of Barrington, RI, son Brian Sweeney and daughter-in-law Heather Sweeney of Santa Monica, CA, 6 grandchildren Anna Sweeney of West Hollywood CA, Taryn Sweeney of Seattle WA, Aly Personeus of Barrington RI, Catherine Sweeney of Sherman Oaks CA, Wolfgang Personeus of Syracuse NY, and William Sweeney of Orlando FL, 2 step-grandchildren Kayla Palleiko of San Deigo CA and Sydney Palleiko of Santa Monica CA, and 4 beloved grand-dogs (Zeke, Freyja, Theo and  Winnie), as well as her half-brother, Robert J. Roehr of Washington, DC.

DeDee was born in Colorado Springs, CO on Valentine’s Day 1938, moved to Barrington RI when she was 9, moving to West Warwick in 1982 before returning to Barrington for good in 2004.  She attended and graduated from Barrington High School and Rhode Island College, becoming a teacher at West Barrington Elementary School.

In her later years, she and Tom traveled extensively including multiple trips sea to sea across the US and Canada in their RV, additionally traveling internationally multiple times to visit friends and loved ones, and even skiing in Switzerland. Of all her travels she loved her second home in Bartlett, NH the most.
