Richard G Snead, Jr.

May 6, 1951 ~ December 11, 2018 (age 67)


Richard lost a courageous battle with Acute Myeloid Leukemia after having a bone marrow transplant. Richard cherished his loving daughter Donna and his son in law Duane. He was a son of the late Richard and Joanna (Guy) Snead, Sr. He also leaves his sisters, Maria Snead and Wendy Marquard-Picard and brothers, Michael Snead, Corey Snead and Stephen Gardiner, three step-sisters, Vanessa Fortes, Monica Ledo, and Trienda Ledo, and step- brothers, Charles Ledo and Ricardo Ledo.  He was the brother of the late Ralph Snead and Charries Snead. He also was the step-brother of the late Bertha Ledo and the late Keith Ledo .He also leaves several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He loved his entire Snead,Guy and Ledo family. He touched people's lives everywhere he went. He had a magnetic personality. He loved his beloved late canine Tarzan whom was a bomb dog at the Warwick Airport Police Department with him. Tarzan also retired with him. He had a huge passion for music and movies. After retiring from the Providence Police Department and the Warwick Airport Police, he worked for Northeast Security under the former Mayor Paolino. Richard loved his Northeast Security Family. He was an avid sports fan and had a passion for the Boston Red Sox and the Dallas Cowboys. He was also a proud and active member of the Pokanoket Nation American Indian Tribe.  He took complete pride in his lifetime of being a Providence Police Officer and Warwick Airport Police Officer. He was the recipient of numerous Providence Police Department Awards commendations as well as receiving the American Legion award in May of 1984. He had a huge heart and a voice you could not forget. He will be missed beyond measure. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday December 18, 2018 from 4:00-6:00 PM in the Smith-Mason Funeral Home, 398 Willett Avenue, Riverside, RI 02915. Burial will be private. Floral tributes welcomed.
