Hjalmar E. Johnson, Jr.

Hjalmar Enoch Johnson, Jr, 90, passed away Monday, March 3, 2008 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, IL. He was born October 23, 1917 in Norwood, Massachusetts, the only son of the late Hjalmar E. and Esther M. (Gustafson) Johanssen.
Hjalmar was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force during World War II where he trained as a pilot. He was a supervisor at Raytheon in Portsmouth, Rhode Island prior to retirement and had attended Barrington Baptist Church for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 60 years, Britta Emilia (Lindholm) Johnson on April 2, 2003, and his daughter Britta Elaine Lawrence on October 28, 2003.
Hjalmar is survived by his son and daughter in law, Norman E. and Cynthia A. Johnson of Mt. Vernon, IN; his four grandchildren Eric C. Johnson, Laura S. Johnson, Joseph J. Lawrence, and William Lawrence, and his sister Ingrid Nilsson of Ljunby, Sweden.
Graveside service will be held at 2:30 pm Monday March 10, 2008 at Forest Chapel Cemetery in Barrington, RI with Rev. Jim Davis officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Barrington Baptist Church, Old County Road, Barrington, Rhode Island, 02806.
