Anne W. (Walsh) Black

Anne W. Black left this earth on May 9, 2019 at Philip Hulitar Hospice Center after a short but feisty fight with cancer.  Her family and friends share her deep faith and trust that she is now in her final home with the Lord.

Born Anne Therese Walsh on June 29, 1952 in Warren Ohio, to the late John and Susan Walsh, Anne is survived by Robert Cleveland Black, her husband of 40 years; their son Robert, wife Laura and their son Connor; and by their daughter Elizabeth Anne and fiancé Chris.

Walsh relatives include her brother Jack, wife Marcia, their children James and Susannah; sister Mary Walsh Flamini, husband John, their children Sarah, Dominic, Antonia, and Nicholas; and brother Michael, wife Marian, their children Marcus and Megan, and grandson Jay.

Relatives in the Black family include her mother-in-law Susan Sternberg Black; Robert’s brother James, wife Bonnie, their daughter Heather, and their son Taylor, wife Emily; and sister Marnee Black Perry, husband Charles, their daughter Amanda Perry Cabral, husband Adam Cabral, and son Aaron.

Anne attended Penn Hills High School in Pittsburgh, and graduated from Wilson College in Chambersburg, PA in 1974.  She obtained her Certified Public Accountant license in 1998 and was employed as a CPA until her retirement in 2017.

Anne loved ice cream, flowers, books and puzzles, rock-and-roll, and the company of her family and friends.  She dabbled in piano and tennis and enjoyed baking cookies. She was a member of the Rotary Club of Providence.  In the 1990’s, she and Rob realized a life-long wish to live overseas by residing in Sydney, Australia for two years.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 from 4PM to 7PM at Smith-Mason Funeral Home, 398 Willett Avenue, Riverside, RI.  The memorial service will be held on Thursday, May 23, 2019 at 11AM at Swan Point Cemetery, 585 Blackstone Blvd, Providence RI 02906.
