David Carroll Sr., 78, formerly of Barrington, RI, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Jo-Ann (Andreozzi) Carroll.
Born in Pawtucket, a son of the late James and Doris (Shorten) Carroll, he lived in Barrington for 54 years. He was the brother of the late James Carroll Jr..
Dave was part of Company A 504th Aviation Battalion 4th Division of the US Army, based in Ansbach, Germany, during the Vietnam War. Upon his return from the service, he married his junior high school sweetheart, Jo-Ann, and remained married for 57 years. After retirement, they moved to Englewood, Florida, where he met new friends and enjoyed fishing, golfing, and the beautiful beaches. Dave always maintained his love for Rhode Island and enjoyed returning to spend time with family and friends. He loved the Boston Bruins, Boston Red Sox, and New England Patriots. He and Jo-Ann enjoyed many Boston Red Sox spring training games in Florida.
Dave graduated from Johnson & Wales University and was a member of the Barrington Fire Department for 27 years before retiring in 1995. He was a devoted father to his five children: Robin Carroll, Terri Turley (Patrick), David Carroll Jr., Diane Graovac (Kevin), and Scott Carroll (Katey). Dave adored and loved his ten grandchildren: Connor and Tanner Paul, Sean, Heather, Aidan and Bryce Turley, Jack and Lucie Graovac, and Brody and Brock Carroll. He also leaves behind an uncle (Leo Carroll), many nieces, nephews, cousins, brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law.
The family will honor Dave’s wishes by having a private service.
